The top items you should have in your bag to be ready for any motorsports weekend.

For every fan race weekends present a new challenge. No matter where I am heading or what type of motorsport I'm planning on watching there are always a few items I make sure to take with me. After attending a variety of motorsports weekends this past year, these are the items I now always have with me at the track.
To avoid having an awful and stressful experience, here is everything I pack in my bag so I'm always ready for a day at the track.
#1 - Bandanna & Sharpie
It may sound like an unusual combo, but packing a bandanna and a permanent marker is a MUST for me nowadays. Having a bandanna with you is perfect for soaking up spills on a bleacher or covering your neck from the sun. Sharpies are also an underrated tool on race weekends, perfect for labeling water bottles and getting driver signatures.
Practical and super handy in a pinch, these are the two unusual items you will now always find in my race weekend bags.
#2 - Personal Toiletries
It may sound excessive, but bringing a few travel-size toiletries in your bag can be a lifesaver. Spending all day at the track can leave you feeling dusty, dirty, and ready for a shower. To make yourself feel refreshed and ready to tackle any new adventure, I always carry a few personal items that make me feel more put together. My favorites include a travel-size hair brush, mini perfume, hair clip, and chapstick.
#3 - Stain Remover
Take it from my personal experience; the chances of you spilling something on yourself during a race weekend are high. Balancing a hot dog on a precarious ledge, a stranger spilling a drink on you, or getting a grass stain on your pants is all very common. To prepare for the inevitable, pack a stain-removing wipe or stick to mediate any damage your clothing may take on. (Otherwise, you may have a ketchup stain on your shirt in every picture you take.)
Tip #4 - Portable Power Bank
Spending 12 hours at a racetrack is miserable if you spend that entire time looking for an outlet or worrying about your phone's battery life. To avoid stress, I highly recommend investing in a small, lightweight portable power bank that can charge your phone throughout the day as you capture as many videos and photos as possible.
Tip #5 - Solid Sunscreen
I shouldn't have to tell you that bringing sunscreen to a track is a must. Most racetracks have little to no shade, so bringing a travel-size sunscreen is necessary unless you want to wake up with burns the next day. To avoid further issues I recommend getting a solid stick sunscreen you can toss into your bag without it exploding and making a mess in your bag.
Enjoy your race weekend!
Race weekends don't have to be stressful or chaotic, but they do require some preparation. Making sure you have all the essentials you may need at the track with you is super important when you want to have a fun weekend away. Always read the rules on what size bag your track will allow and any restrictions they have.
